Chatmag's Annual List of the Top Ten Discussion Topics for 2004
Chatmag's annual list of the most popular discussion topics on Internet chat and discussion forums. (PRWEB) November 16, 2004 -- The United States Presidential election was the single most popular topic for 2004. Discussion boards and chat rooms worldwide were buzzing with activity regarding the election. A new twist this year was the inclusion of web loggers, or 'bloggers, to the Presidential conventions. The Democratic party granted bloggers access to their convention, with the Republicans following suit. Web blogs, or 'blogs, are a combination of an online journal and discussion forum, although not all 'blogs have comment capabilities. Also new for 2004 was the listing of 'blogs within Chatmag's Topic Directory. Only 'blogs with comment capabilities were chosen for inclusion, in keeping with Chatmag's policy of only listing discussion type sites. The war in Iraq holds the number two spot for the year. Were it not for the Presidential election, Iraq would easily of been the top topic. The anime cartoon Inuyasha discussion topic was number three. Anime discussion boards covering all aspects of the genre abound, with Inuyasha being the most popular. All anime related discussions affected this position in Chatmag's Top Ten. Closing the "digital divide", Black/African-American chat remains on the list for a third year in a row. Arabic, a related discussion topic to the war in Iraq, was fifth. Japanese chat comes in sixth. Harry Potter, once in the top five, slipped to seventh. Teenagers, famous for their Instant Messaging, also used discussion boards and chat rooms, and is eighth.
