Finding herself alone at age 58, an resourceful Ohio mom starts a new business. Portsmouth, OH November 18, 2004 -- Local mother launches online shopping mall. Recently widowed, Barbara King, a retired programmer analyst, decided it was time to get busy and get started with a new chapter in her life. With a life long love for computers and programming, she decided that she could start an online business. With determination and a strong desire to have her own business, she purchased a few books and jumped right in to coding her first web pages. She chose an online mall, because many of her local friends did not know much about surfing around on the internet, and she thought bringing some of the internet’s most popular stores together under one roof would be just the thing. The idea became reality, and thus A Mom’s Shop was born. A Mom’s Shop has been online just two months, but is expanding and now includes Gifts of Praise which is a Christian gift shop with over 3000 products.. There is a Christmas Shop inside Gift Of Praises, as well as lots of handmade items like baby blankets, candles, and home decor. Barbara has recently added T-Shirts with a Personal touch, with over a thousand graphics you can choose from to have printed on your shirt of choice. Besides t-shirts, there are sweatshirts, long sleeve tees, aprons, and tote bags. She has five teddy bear shops and a Baby Attitude shop that sells funny baby onesie’s. Barbara has offered low cost advertising for other mom’s that want to get exposure for their products or services, and she has listed just under a hundred legitimate business opportunities on her website to help others find a work from home job.
